First album in a 14-album series based on visual artist Summer Veins' Fontanelles series.
Based on solo improvisations I made and layered over one another.
The form of the pieces grew out of the unplanned structures that revealed themselves during montage of these snippets.
Then musicians were invited to improvise over these with minimum instructions.
The result is a 4-part suite which can be thought of as describing a full day of ritual activity, from the early morning to the late night.
I was very interested in the idea of using electronic sound as some kinda "other" to the more folk and jazz based instrumentation, like spirit communication.
I (P*H) would like to thank:
- All the musicians, especially Peter Russell and the Glen Buschmann Jazz academy members,
- Kenneth Brown for recording Peter Russell,
- Greg Beller and IRCAM
- My neighbours for not calling the cops when I recorded Tillmann lmao
- Summer Veins for embarking on this insane multi-year journey with me, doing the Fontanelle series
